  16. announced the release of Pencil Me In version 1.0, its group scheduling
  17. application for NeXTSTEP. Pencil Me In is a full-featured personal calendar
  18. that uses the metaphor of a conventional, paper-based time management system
  19. as the starting point for a powerful group scheduling system.

  21. Going far beyond the capabilities of a paper diary, Pencil Me In allows and
  22. encourages group scheduling by providing composite calendars, six different
  23. levels of security, simultaneous update capability for shared calendars, and
  24. the ability to exchange calendar information through NeXT's electronic mail
  25. system.

  27. Composite calendars make it easy to find the best time for a group meeting.
  28. The times when members of the group are busy are visually highlighted in
  29. standard calendar formats. Three special Timeline formats show even more
  30. information for each person in the group.

  33. we had to first provide a great individual calendar so people would use it,"

  44. Swiss Bank Corporation has licensed Pencil Me In for use as a key component of
  45. its NeXT office automation platform. "Individual and group scheduling is a
  46. vital part of interpersonal computing," said Robert M. Wilen, Director of
  47. Technical Architecture. "Pencil Me In is the first-class scheduler that the
  48. NeXT market has been crying out for."
